Battery life is one of the most common concerns among iPhone users. Whether you have an older model or the latest release, following a few simple practices can help you get the most out of every charge. Here are proven tips that work across all iPhones.
Reduce screen brightness
One of the biggest battery drainers is your screen. Lowering the brightness manually or enabling auto-brightness can significantly extend battery life.
Go to Settings > Display & Brightness
Adjust the slider or enable Auto-Brightness in Accessibility settings
Turn off background app refresh
Apps running in the background can silently consume power. Disable background app refresh for apps that don’t need constant updates.
Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh
Choose “Off” or “Wi-Fi” to limit background activity
Enable low power mode
Low power mode temporarily reduces power-hungry features like mail fetch, visual effects, and background tasks.
Go to Settings > Battery
Toggle on Low Power Mode
You can also activate it quickly from the Control Center
Disable location services for unused apps
Location services can quickly drain your battery if left on for every app.
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services
Set individual apps to “Never” or “While Using”
Update your iPhone
Apple constantly improves battery management through software updates. Keeping iOS up to date ensures your iPhone benefits from the latest optimizations.
Go to Settings > General > Software Update
Install the latest version of iOS when available
Manage notifications
Too many notifications not only distract you, but also wake your screen and use power. Limit alerts to what really matters.
Go to Settings > Notifications
Review and turn off non-essential notifications
Use Wi-Fi when available
Wi-Fi consumes less power than cellular data. When possible, connect to a trusted Wi-Fi network to save battery.
Avoid extreme temperatures
iPhones work best between 0° and 35 °C. Cold or hot environments can damage your battery or cause it to drain faster.
Keep your device out of direct sunlight and don’t leave it in a hot car
Charge smart
Avoid letting your battery drop to 0 % or charging it to 100 % every time. Keep it between 20–80 % for better long-term health. Enable optimized charging in Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging
